Scientific Rationale
The meeting is intended as a continuation of the three successful conferences we conducted in January of 2020, 2023 and 2025, according to the established biennial cadence. The central focus of these meetings is the discussion of current developments and upcoming advancements in the study of intermediate and supermassive black holes. This is especially pertinent as the field is quickly evolving following the discoveries brought by the first years of JWST observations, while the now starting LSST on the Vera Rubin telescope is set to unveil the variable and transient sky offering unique opportunity to study AGNs and massive black hole binary. JWST in particular is already changing our view of the young Universe, ushering to a new era that will culminate with a new wave of experiments – including LISA, Athena, and SKA – set to commence in approximately a decade.
These revolutionary experiments are anticipated to substantially enhance our understanding of astrophysical black holes. However, to fully exploit their scientific potential, we need to develop innovative models and observational techniques to prepare the community for the complex data these ambitious experiments will yield.
The first three editions drew global experts in the field and we continue this series of regular events aiming at establishing a solid roadmap to prepare the scientific community to extract the most valuable insights from the impending influx of new data. The main objectives of these meetings include fostering collaboration between theoretical modelers and observers, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, formulating novel strategies for data exploitation, and coordinating community efforts.
Conference Dinner: Bad Moos (Wednesday or Thursday night). Not included in the fee (for those who won’t stay at Bad Moos).
We will use the extra 60 euros/person to reduce/wave few fees for students/early career scientists.
