Scientific Rationale

We are pleased to announce the second edition of the "Sexten workshop on the chemical evolution of galaxies hosting Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB)".
The workshop will be hosted at the SCfA, in Sexten, Sudtirol, and will be held in winter 2013, from January 21 to January 25, 2013.

The workshop will offer the participants the opportunity to meet in an informal environment and to carry out collaborative work, surrounded by the spectacular winter view of the Dolomites.
The workshop will be organised by the Department of Physics of the University of Trieste.

The workshop will contain a wide range of topics related to GRBs and their progenitors.

Topics of the workshop will tentatively include:

* GRB host galaxies, observations, classification, spectroscopy
* GRB host galaxy chemical models
* GRB and SN connection
* GRB and SN progenitors: theory, modeling, observations
* GRB and SN local and cosmic rates
* GRB as cosmological rulers
* High z GRB: observations and theory
* New missions for High z GRB
* Low z underluminous GRB

The workshop will be a very pleasant occasion to discuss such topics from different points of view.

We estimate that there will be about 40 participants to the workshop.
