Scientific Rationale
The transformative power of JWST observations has made Galaxy Evolution a rapidly moving field, facing unexpected and currently unresolved questions. Addressing these challenging and pressing issues demands a combined effort of the entire community, encompassing both discussions and joint planning. The workshop will focus on the most outstanding issues at the center of lively debates within the community:
- Too many or too bright? Observational and theoretical projects to disentangle among scenarios explaining the excess of bright galaxies at z>9
- What’s inside the Little Red Dots? Planning research efforts to unveil the hidden nature of LRDs and their role in galaxy evolution.
- How can we finally see the first light? Common strategies to achieve the long-awaited discovery of the first generation of stars.
The meeting will feature presentations with ample time for discussion and brainstorming, and the organization of working groups to tackle open issues/points worthy of deeper analysis. CSI:Sesto aims at fostering new collaborations and acting as an incubator of innovative ideas, impactful observational proposals and theoretical investigations.
Confirmed invited reviews by A. Fontana (INAF), D. Setton (Princeton Univ.), C. Kobayashi (Hertfordshire Univ.).
