Scientific Rationale

Beyond ΛCDM: from dark matter halos to large-scale structures

Recent observational results have shown some tension with the generally well-accepted Lambda CDM scenario for structure formation and Cosmology. Such evidence ranges from the discovery of massive clusters at very high redshifts, to dark matter mass density profiles on cluster scale not always following simulations, the observed modest power of the density fluctuation spectrum at small scale, e.g. possible deviations from the "cold" nature of dark matter, and other.

These tantalizing results have recently stimulated a number of theoretical speculations beyond standard cosmology and fundamental physics. Galaxy clusters offer different ways to probe such possible deviations from the standard LCDM model.

We propose to discuss all these issues in light of current and future observational projects, as well as numerical simulations and theoretical work. This workshop aims as usual at bringing together scientists representing a number of these new projects to discuss first results, the paths forward in the informal and beautiful atmosphere of the Sesto Center for Astrophysics.
