The aim of this workshop is to set up an informal and collaborative environment to discuss of the state-of-the-art knowledge about star formation and galaxy formation and to further advance in understanding the tight link between them. The meeting will bring together well-recognized experts in observations of star forming galaxies in the nearby and distant Universe, and in numerical simulations of galaxy formation in the cosmological context. This will provide a promising opportunity to discuss and develop new approaches, and to foster new effective collaborations.
